AN ACT to authorise Jacob Fry, Thomas Cummings and Isaac Darniel to establish a ferry across the Illinois river at the town of Guilford.

Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That Jacob Fry, Thomas Cummings and Isaac Darniel be and they are hereby

authorised to establish and keep a ferry on the Illinois river at the town of Guilford: the rates for crossing at said ferry shall be regulated by the county commissioners’ court of Greene county.

1On January 11, 1837, John Allen introduced SB 71 in the Illinois Senate. The House referred it to a select committee on January 13. The committee reported back the next day and recommended passage. The Senate concurred and passed the bill. On February 2, the Illinois House of Representatives passed the bill. On February 7, the Illinois Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
