1On July 14, the House of Representatives passed a resolution instructing the Committee on the Judiciary to look into preventing members of the Legislature from holding certain public offices. On July 15, John J. Hardin from the Committee on the Judiciary introduced HB 50 in the House. On July 18, the House amended the bill by adding a section making members of the Legislature ineligible to hold any office or appointment under the Governor or the Senate. The House passed the bill as amended on July 20. On July 21, the Senate read the bill twice, but took no further action.
