Section 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General assembly
That the officers and members of “The Mount-Carmel Grimke Literary Association,” and their successors, be, and they are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate,
by the name & style aforesaid; and invested with all the rights, priviledges, liabilities, & immunities, incident to a Corporate body.
Section 2 The objects of said Association are & shall be to promote & encourage literature, and the mental and moral culture
of its members; and they are authorize tand empowered, to adopt & execute such measures, to effect said objects, as may be
deemed most expedient.
Sec.[Section] 3. The corporation shall have power to establish ^& change^ Bye laws; & prescribe rules & regulations for the admission & dismission of its members,
and their goverment; election of their officers & other duties; and the managements of its property &
affairs.
Sec. 4. Minors over the age of ten years, ^S^ may ^shall^ be admitted members of theassociation ; and such honorary members may be elected as theassociation may think fit.

Sec. 5. The annual income of the real & personal estate which the said corporation may hold, shall not exceed three thousand dollars.
Sec. 6. The Legislature may at any time modify[,] alter[,] or repeal, this act, or any of its provisions, should thecorporation abuse any of its priviledges hereby granted.
