A Bill

For an act to locate a State road, from the dividing line between the Counties of Vermillion & Iroquois, at the point where the Butterfield trace crosses said line.

Section 1^st Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the General Assembly that, James Smith[,] Alanson Hawkins [,] & John Johnson all of the County of Iroquois be and they are hereby appointed Commissioners to view, survey, mark[,] and locate a State Road; commencing ^at,^ and running from the dividing line, between the Counties of Vermillion and Iroquois at the point where the Butterfield trace crosses said line; to ash grove on the west fork of sugar creek, thence to Jeffersons point on spring creek, thence to Plato, thence down the Iroquois river to the Kankakee river; from thence in the most suitable and eligible direction to Juliet in Will County.

Section 2^nd The said Commissioners or a majority of them shall meet at the house of Levi Thompson Esq^r[Esquire] in Iroquois County on or before the second Monday

in August next, or within one month thereafter, who after being duly sworn before some Justice of the peace in said County, faithfully to observe the provisions of this act, shall proceed to view and locate said road, and the said Commissioners on or before the first day of October next shall make or cause to be made a true survey, and map of said road, signed by them, and deposited with the County Commissioners, in the several Counties through which said road shall pass. Which road when laid out as aforesaid shall be deemed and considered a public state road; and the County Commissioners Courts of the Counties through which said road is so located and laid out, shall appoint supervisors who shall cause the same to be opened and worked & kept in repair, as other public roads are.

Section 3^rd

The Commissioners appointed in the first section of this act, shall receive for their services a just compensation for their services, not exceeding two dollars per day, out of the funds of each County respectively through which the said road shall thus be located.
