Sec[Section] 1 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That, every person who shall be summoned to attend as a witness to give testimony
in any civil case before a Justice of the Peace or any other court having jurisdiction
of civil cases, shall be entitled to receive seventy five cents for each and every
day that such witness shall attend, and any other additional sum which the court or
justices of the Peace deem just and right: Provided, that such compensation shall
not exceed ten cents per mile from the place where the witness resides to the place
of trial, which shall be taxed with the other costs and collected as other costs are,
an[d] paid when collected. This act to be in force from and after its passage.
