Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly that the time allowed to the Caledonia Railroad Company, created by An Act to incorporate the Caledonia Railroad approved July 21st 1837, be and the same is hereby extended to five years from and
after the fourth day of July 1839, or until the Central rail road shall be completed to its intersection with the Southern Cross railroad, at the option of said Company.

1Harvey T. Pace introduced HB 384, originally titled “A Bill to Create a Silk-Growing and Manufacturing
Company,” in the House of Representatives on February 20, 1839. The House referred the bill to the Committee on Manufactures
and Agriculture. The Committee on Manufactures and Agriculture reported back the
bill on February 27 with an amendment, in which the House concurred. On February
28, the House passed the bill as amended, amending the title so as to read “A Bill
to Extend the Time for the Completion of the Caledonia Railroad .” On March 1, the Senate indefinitely postponed consideration.
