A Bill for An act to amend an act entitled: “An act establishing and regulating the inspection of Tobacco in this State Approved January 12th 1829[]
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois represented in General Assembly That if any person shall leave in any public or p[ri]vate warehouse in this State, any property of a perishable nature, or which if not taken away and sold within fifteen months from the time at which such1 property was so left, would not at the expiration of that time, be worth the charges which should ^then^ be due upon such property, and if the charges upon such2 property shall not be paid, then and in that case it shall be lawful for the occupant or occupants of such warehouse, to sell at auction to the highest bidder, only so much of such3 property as will pay the charges due and the expense of selling and advertizing the same, upon giving not less than three weeks public notice of the time and place of such sale, in two or more newspapers published in the town where such warehouse may be situated, or the vicinity thereof.
Sec. 2. That no occupant or occupants of any warehouse shall sell any larger amounts of property left in such warehouse than will be sufficient to cover the costs and charges upon the same.
