Com’rs[Commissioners] to locate road.
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That Bushrod W. Henry of the county of Shelby, and William Warnick of the county of Macon, be, and they are hereby, appointed commissioners to lay out a State road from Shelbyville, in Shelby county, to Decatur, in Macon county.
Time & place of meeting.
Report to be filed.
Sec. 2. Said commissioners shall meet at Shelbyville on or before the twenty-fifth of September next, and, after taking an oath before
some justice of the peace in said town to observe the obligations of this act, shall proceed to view and lay out said road
on the nearest and best way from said town of Shelbyville to or near Wilbourn’s point; thence through Brush creek point; thence to Allen’s
bridge; and thence to Decatur, in Macon county; and as soon as practicable thereafter cause to be made out a report of the location
of said road, designating the most noted points thereon, and return a copy of the
same to the clerk of the county commissioners’ court of each of said counties; which shall be by him filed in his office. And said road,
thus laid out, shall be, and is hereby,

declared a public State road, and shall be opened and kept in repair in the same
manner as other public roads are.
Compensation.
Sec. 3. Said commissioners shall be paid two dollars per day each; chain-carriers two dollars
per day each; and the surveyor two dollars and fifty cents per day, out of the treasury
of each county equally.

1On February 13, 1839, Peter Warren introduced SB 217 in the Senate. On February 14, the Senate passed the bill. On February 23, the House of Representatives passed the bill. On February 27, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
