AN ACT to repeal part of an act, entitled, “An act to provide for the sale of certain
canal lands, and for other purposes.”

Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That so much of the tenth section of an act, entitled, “An act to provide for the sale of certain canal lands, and for other
purposes,” approved twenty-first of July, 1837, as provides that the loan therein
mentioned should not be made until the whole of the means, available under existing
laws, should first be exhausted, be, and the same is hereby, repealed.

1Joseph Naper introduced HB 83 in the House of Representatives on December 27, 1838. The House passed the bill on December 28. The Senate concurred on the same day. On January 5, 1839, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
