Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the Vandalia and Mississippi Turnpike Company shall have the right, as soon as they shall have completely graded and put in good
repair one or more sections of said road, of not less than ten miles, for travel and
use, to place toll gates thereon and may ask, demand, and receive toll viz, the same rates and amounts as [allowed?] and authorized to be recieved in the twenty fourth section of the act entitled “An act to incorporate the Wabash and Mississippi Turnpike company” approved January 13. 1836.
Sec. 2. The State of Illinois shall have the right to purchase said road from said company at any time after twenty years from the passage of this act by paying the cost of
construction of the same with twelve per cent interest thereon per annum exclusive
of
tolls
recieved
which
inure
to
the
company
and
not to be accounted for to the State.
Sec. 3. The limit and term of time for which this charter is granted and firmly secured
to said Company

shall be the same as granted to said Wabash and Mississippi Turnpike company computing from the passage of the act to which this is an amendment.
Sec. 4. Such parts of the act refered to as are repugnant to the provisions of the provisions of this act are hereby repealed. Provided nothing in this act shall be so construed
as to releas said Company from Mc Cademizing said road within the limited time for compleating said road as set forth in the act to which this is an amendment.
