Sectn[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, Represented in the General Assembly That schedules of schools kept in Townships not incorporated, shall be returned to Trustees of schools instead of school Commissioners. And it shall be the duty of said Trustees to examine all schedules returned to them by [?] And after correcting errors which they may discover or asscertain to exist if there be any, they shall certify to the correctness of said Schedules in the manner now prescribed by law, And shall cause the Teachers to make abstracts therefrom, in which shall be set forth the names of ^all^ the scholars attending his school, the number of days each scholar residing in the proper Township attended the School[,] and set down the total number of days opposite the name of such scholar, he shall then add together their several accounts and set down the total number at the bottom of the abstract which abstract shall be accompanied by a certificate from the teacher and Trustees stating that the same is correct and the amount due the Teacher and returned to School Commissioners of Counties on or before the first Monday in Ja[nuary] and July in each and every year
Sect[Section] 2 Abstracts made out certified and returned as required by the foregoing Section of this act shall be the criterion by which school commissioners shall be governed in making the appointment of School funds and shall pay to each teacher the same rate of compensation

The Committee on Education reported back the bill on January 27 with amendments, in which the House did not concur. The House amended the bill by adding an additional section. The House passed the bill as amended on January 30. The House informed the Senate of the bill’s passage, but the latter took no action.
