Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly that William McKenny and Robert Symms of Rock Island County, in this state be and they hereby released and discharged from paying the amount of a certain judgment [...?] which was lately [recovered?] against them in the Circuit Court of Rock Island County, in a scire facias on a [perfected?] recognizance — which said recognizance was for the the appearance of one Henry D Adams before the Circuit Court of said County to answer an indictment for mayhem.

1On January 17, 1840, James Craig in the House of Representatives presented the petition of William McKenny and Robert Symes, which the House referred to the Committee on the Judiciary. In response to this petition, Samuel D. Marshall of the Committee on the Judiciary introduced HB 226 in the House on January 22. The House tabled the bill.
