Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That instead of the name of John Newman, contained in said act, the name of John Nawman, be substituted.

1On December 11, 1839, Representative Richard Murphy introduced HB 2 in the House of Representatives. On December 17, the House passed the bill. On December 28, the Senate passed the bill. On January 18, 1840, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
