Sec[Section] 7 The act passed Feby[February] 27th 1839 Entitled “an act to provide for a loan for canal purposes,” is hereby so changed as to authorise the interest upon bonds hereafter sold under the provisions of the said act to be paid semi-anually.
Sec 8 The Governor, Auditor, and Treasurer, of this State shall settle the accounts of the several agents Employed by the Governor, within the last year to negociate canal loans, or to convey funds from Eastern cities to this state; and allow them respectively a compensation of five dollars a day for the time occupied by them in the performance of those services, Except in cases where a different agreement has been made with them by the Governor; and if any such agent has retained a greater compensation than herein allowed, he shall be required to refund the overplus, and the same shall be added to the canal fund. Provided, That no person shall be entitled to receive from the state a per diem compensation for services performed in two or more different capacities at the same period of time.
