Resolved, that the Committee on the Post offices & Post Roads, be instructed to enquire
into the expediency of amending the laws on the subject of the transportation of the
mails, so as to require fix a maximum price for transporting the same on rail roads and steam boats and designate
the routs of mails of the first class & report by bill or otherwise
