State of Michigan March 6th 1848
The undersigned your memorialist would Respectfully represent to your honourable body
that i he became liable to the Post Office Department in the sum of Seven hundred and thirty
dollars, in consequence of a bid made by the undersigned, to carry the mail on Route
No 3750, from Saganaw to Sue Ste Marie from the first of July 1846. to 31st of May 1850, with which he could not comply, Said bid being an extravagant one, and
made under a misaprehension of the circumstances of the case, your memorialist therefore prays relief from the
payment of the above named $.730.
