To the Honourable, the Congress of the United States
Your petitioners, would respectfully pray, the extension of the present mail route,
from Memphis Ten. to Panola Miss to Coffeeville. This arrangement would give mail
facilities to the rich & thickly settled country, between Panola & Coffeeville—connect
the two Horse Crack line, that now runs between Memphis & Panola, with the main southern
stage route from Vicksburg, by way of Carrollton, Grenada, & Oxford to Holly springs—supply
^us^ our Country with the southern mail one week sooner than at present & the distance from Coffeeville
to Memphis is thirty miles nearer on this route than any other. Your petitioners pray
the passage of a law; affording us these advantages & they will ever pray &c.
