To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in Congress assembled.
The undersigned Petitioners, citizens of the Parishes of Natchitoches, Claiborne, Caldwell, and Ouachita in the State of Louisiana, respectfully represent to your Honorable Body, that they are laboring under much inconvenience for want of a Mail rout with Post Offices established between the towns of Natchitoches and Monroe, and pray that such rout be granted, and that Post Offices be established at the following places on said rout, namely; St. Maurice^’s^, Cedar Creek, Saline Mills, John Lisle’s, Wyatt’s and John T Farr’s.
Your Petitioner^s^ further pray your Honorable Body to order that the above offices be established, and be supplied with a Mail as often as twice a week. Your Petitioners would respectfully state to your Honorable Body that the nearest Post Office, to Cedar Creek is 17 miles, the nearest to Saline Mills is 34 miles, the nearest to Lisles is 50 miles, the nearest to Wyatts is [30?] miles, and the nearest to Farrs is 15 miles.
Your Petitioners humbly pray your Honorable Body to take into consideration the great inconvinience of living from 30 to 50 miles from a Post Office, and as a number of the undersigned have heretofore prayed your Honorable Body to grant the above (which prayr from causes unknown to them was not granted) they now humbly ask your earliest compliance with this their Petition, and your Petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray &c.
