To the Honorable Senate, and House of Representatives, of the U. States in Congress
Assembled:
The petition of divers inhabitants, of the Township of Drumore, in the County of Lancaster,
and State of Pennsylvania, of the one part, would respectfully represent, that your
petitioners suffer Extreme disadvantage for want of a Post road from the village of Penningtonville on the P. R. Road, [?] in the township of Sadsbury, County of Chester, and State aforesaid, (a corresponding
petition being issued from thence) via the State road, passing Cooperville P. O. (J.
Cain P. M.), thence by said road to the Green Tree Inn; thence northward about one
mile (leaving the State road) to Bart P. O., thence in a south west direction about
three and a half miles Entering the State road again at the place of William W. Passmore;
thence westward about seven miles by the State Road to the Buck P. O. (Geo. T. Clark P. M.) in Towp., Cos, and State first above mentioned (Penningtonville in Chester, and the Buck in Lancaster
Counties being the two Extremes). Said Rout will pass through a densely populated, and well cultivated limestone valley; immediately
contiguous to furnaces, factories, and mills. The whole rout will embrace a distance of Eighteen miles. We earnestly petition your honourable
body to grant said rout, and for a mail to traverse the same twice each week: we believe it will be one of the most profitable routes to the department
in this [Coy?]. We would conclusively petition that a P. office be established at the residence
of WM. W. Passmore (on said rout) in Bart Towp. Lanr. Coy) under the name of “Buena Vista” P. O. and do further recommend said Passmore as
being a person well qualified for post master thereof And your petitioners will ever
pray &c.
