To the honorable the Senate and House of Representatives in Congress assembled.
We the undersigned petitioners of Saint Joseph Williams County Ohio respectfully represent that the public necessity requires, that your Honorable Body establish a Mail Rout, commencing at Lima Ia. and extending by way of Lexington to Jackson, Steuben, and Hamilton of aforesaid State. Thence to Saint Joseph, William’s Centre, Washington, and Brunersburgh, to Defiance Ohio: Intersecting the Southern Mail from Cincinnatti by way of Miami Canal: which opens a direct communication to Chicago Illinois and the western part of the United States. And by so doing your Petitioners will ever pray.
