To the Honorable The Senate & House of Representative of the United States in Congress
assembled the undersigned citizens of the Counties of Daviess, Martin & Lawrence in
the state of Indiana would respectfully represent that they are in great want of mail
facilities. Wherefore they would humbly, pray that you would Establish a mail route
from Washington in said County of Daviess along the State Road through Martin County,
by way of Fayetteville in Lawrence County to Bedford in said County, to pass back
& forth once a week, & that you would Establish a post office on said Route at or
near Saml McBride’s in said County of Daviess & one at or near Edwardson’s [Tangard?] in said County of Martin & they will Ever pray &c.
