To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America
The petition of the undersigned, inhabitants of the counties of Monroe, Pike, and
Wayne, most respectfully represent that they labor under great disadvantage and inconvenience
in consequence of not having mail facilities sufficient for the ordinary transaction
of business, and would therefore pray your honorable bodies to pass an act granting
them a mail route to be carried once a week on horseback or sulky, from Stroudsburg,
Monroe county, Pennsylvania, passing up the east branch of Brodhead’s creek, via Brackleyville, Priceburg, Indian Hill, Coveville, to East Sterling, in Wayne County,
a distance of 26 miles, and appoint William S. White, Wilki^n^son Price, Peter Sees, and Benjamin Pitt postmasters on said route, leaving Stroudsburg every Thursday morning at 6 o’clock, A.M., and arriving at East Sterling at 6 o’clock P.M, of said day. Returning, to leave East Sterling every Friday morning, and arrive at Stroudsburg at six o’clock, P.M. of said day. And your petitioners will ever pray,
