To the Honerable Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in Congress assembled
Your petitioners, citizens of the State of Arkansas, beg leave to represent to your honerable body1, that a Mail route commencing at Washington in Hempstead county, arkansas, running thence North Wes wordly with the Fort Towson road to Johnsons Mills, in the said county of Hempstead, thence, via Neal’s Springs, and Russey’s in Sevier County, Baker’s Springs and Mountain Fork Cove in Polk County to Dallas the County Seat of Polk County, would be of great Public utility, and greatly promote the convenience of extensive and growing settlements along its direction, a large number of whom are entirely destitute of Mail facilities except at considerable distances varying from ten to thirty miles, the route, being a distance of Ninety-five or a hundred miles.
They therefore pray your honerable body2 to Establish by law, the route specified and they would recommend the Establishment of the following Post Offices on said route, viz: At Johnsons Mills, in Hempstead County: Neals Springs and Russeys in Sevier County, Baker Springs and Mountain Fork Cove in Polk County, and that they be supplied by a horse Mail, once in each week. And Your Petitioners, as in duty bound will ever pray &c
