To the Hon the Senate and House of Representatives of the U S in Congress Assembled
Your petitioners, Citizens being contiguous to & interested in the Mail rout from
Galesburg Knox Co Ills, to Bloomington Iowa, would respectfully represent that said
Route as it now ixists is of but little binefit owing to a want of conexion between it and the Eastern Mail Route Your petitioners therefore pray that it may
be extended to Knoxville Knox Co Ills, An addition of only five miles which would
conect said Route with the Eastern Mail at Knoxville, & secure to us a much Speedier transmission
of our mail, and as in duty bound will ever pray
