The undersigned inhabitants of the State of Illinois would respectfully represent that a mail route is much needed, and would be of essential service to your petitioners and the public in general: Commencing at the Post Office, La Salle in the Town of Peru in the State of Illinois, running by Troy grove, and Ovid Post Office, Dewey’s Mills in Inlet grove, La Fayette grove grove Kelly’s Mills in White Oak grove, Stillman and Kishwauka, and terminating at Rockford in the State of Illinois. The importance of Connecting the two places Peru and Rockford by a mail route is visible to all acquainted with the Country, besides, the advantages to be derived to the aforenamed places along the route by the receipt of a regular mail, are of sufficient importance to require it.

Your petitioners would therefore request the passage of an act establishing a mail route from La Salle Post Office aforesaid, passing through and by the aforenamed places and terminating at Rockford aforesaid ^Distance of seventy miles^ and authorizing the carrying of a tri weekly mail in two horse post Coaches along said route
