To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled.
The undersigned inhabitants of the State of Illinois would respectfully represent that a mail route is much needed, and would be of essential service to youre petitioners and the publick in general, Commencing at the La Salle, Post Office, in the Town of Peru in the State of Illinois, running by Troy Grove and Ovid Post Office, Deweys Mills in Inlet Grove. La Fayette Grove. Kellys Mills, in White Oak Grove, Stillman and Kishwauka and terminate at Rockford in the State of Illinois. The impurtance of connecting the two places, Peru, and Rockford by a mail route is visible to all acquainted with the country; besides the advantage to be derived to the aforementioned places along the route by the recept of a regular mail are of sufficient importance to require it.
Youre petitioners would therefore request the passage of an act establishing a mail route from La Salle Post Office aforesaid passing through and by the aforenamed places and terminating at Rockford aforesaid, and authorising the carrying of a tri weekly mail in two horse post coches along said route, and as in duty bound will ever pray,
