The Petition of the Subscribers Citizens of the adjacent Parts of Schuylkill and Carbon County’s Respectfully showeth

That in sequence of the want of a Mail Route between Orwigsburg Post Office in the County of Schuylkill and Leheighton Post Office in the County of Carbon, they are much incommoded and prejadiced in their Busines and Enterprize; the distance between the two points being Twenty Eight miles. The Road between the two Points, is a good public Road, and will connect important Points. Lettres to those along or whitin the Scope of this Route, must necessarly be detained at the Termina, creating perplexity and subjecting them to a great Expense and Loss of Time. Lettres from one point to the other reach their destination by wide circuits of Post Roads or by private accommadation and Expresses, for all which reasons which concern a large Population. Your Petitioners have been induced to pray Your honorable body’s to grant them a Mail Route, and establish the same according to Law, and they will ever pray &cc
