To the Honourable, the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
The Petition of the Subscribers, citizens of the adjacent parts of Schuylkill and Carbon Counties Respectfully Sheweth,
That in consequence of the want of a Mail Route between Orwigsburg Post Office in the County of Schuylkill and Lehighton Post Office in the County of Carbon they are much incommoded and prejudiced in their bussiness and enterprise. the distance between the two points being t[...?] 28 miles. The road between the two points is a good public Road and will connect important points, Letters from one point to the other reach their destination by wide Circuits of Post Roads or by private accommodation or expresses. for all which reasons which concern a large population your petitioners have been induced to pray your honourable bodies to grant them a Mail Route and establish the same according to law. and they will ever pray &c.
