To the Hon cov JohnsonPost Master General of the Uinted states
The petition of divers inhabitants of Lebanon and Bearks Counties in the state of
Pennsylvania
Respectfully Represents
That there is a much travelled and much frequented public road extending between Jonestown
in the County of Lebanon and Rehrersburg in the county of Berks and that the inhabitants
of the two places and the country intervening between them have many transactions
of buisness and otherwise constantly going on, to the beter and more convenient arrange
of which a post route betwe^e^n the two places to be traveled by the mail at least once a week would be of great
advantage and is seriously wanted, That a new Post office should also be established
on said route at Jacob Newcomet’s mill whom we also recommend as Post master, to be
called Newcomet’s mill Post office, which is situated in the township of Bethel in
the county of Berks the same being a populous neighbourhood and no Post office being
within a convenient distance they would therefore respectfully pray for the establishment
of the said Post office and the said Post route and remain
very respectfully &cJanuary 31st 1848John Mager | [Johannes?] [?] |
