To the Honl. Cave Johnson P. M. Genl. &c
The undersigned petitioners citizens of the County of Wayne State of Tennessee would
respectfully represent to your ^Hon^ that, a large portion of the citizens of said County are destitute of post office
facilities, leving many of them twenty miles from any post office they would further
state to you that a Route could be established from Waynesboro Tennessee to Florence Alabama a
distance of about fifty miles which would supply four Neighbourhoods with the mail
and which would be a great advantage to the now destitute citizens. Your petitioners
would respectfuly suggest that the Route be established from Waynesboro Tn via Houston
Pleasant Valley Esq. Hassons A Westmorelands to Florence Ala We would respectfully
state that there are now offies at Houston & Pleasant Valley— supplied by the contractor
on the Route from Waynesboro Tn to Laconyville T. which Route might be discontinued
should the herein proposed Route be established as there are no other offices on said
route & As in duty &c
