To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives in Congress assembled.
We your Petitioners Citizens of Marshall & vicinity, in the County of Calhoun State
of Michigan earnestly pray your Honorable Body to grant & establish a Post Road from
Marshall to Michigan (the Capitol of this state) via, of Eaton Rapids in Eaton County,
a distance of from forty, to forty four miles, believing, as we do, that said Road
is of great importance to the section of the Country through which it would pass,
& believing also that it ought to be established, and that the Route by the way of
Eaton Rapids is the best, most direct, & eligible, we humbly hope that the prayer
of our Petition may be granted, & we further Pray that the Mail may be transported
on said Road six times pr week each way, & your Petitioners will ever Pray.
