To the honorable Post master general of the ^the Senate & House of Representatives^ of the United States of America.
The petition of the undersigned taxable inhabitants within the delivery of the Post Offices of Greenville and Oak Hill and a proposed office betwen the said Offices located at Norton Hill do respectifully represent.
1 That the establishment of a Mail route between the above named places would be a great convenience to your petitioners most of whom reside at a distance of from three to four miles from the above Offices
2 That owing to the want of communication between the above named Offices a distance of only seven miles you petitioners are under the necesity of sending their Letters by the way of Chesterville a distance of Twenty two miles or by the way of Catskill which is general the most speedy way a distance of fifty miles
3 That the establishment of the proposed route (coresponding with a Map accompaning this document) which would open a direct communication between Schoharie and the western part of Greene County and Coxsackie and would be a great advantage to the inhabitants of the above named places
4. ^that your^ petitionsers believe that such a route established would not only pay its own expenses but that a considerable ^revenue^ beyond such expenses would thereby accrue to the post office department
5 your petitioners therefore respectfully pray that such mail route may be established by the post master General with a post office at Norton Hill two and a half miles from Greenville and four and a half from Oak Hill and that a mail may be carried on such route two days in each week and that said route may be annexed to the Coxsakie and Greenville route
