To the Hon. Senate and House of Representatives at their first Session, thirtieth Congress.
We the undersigned, citizens of the Counties of Clark, and Coles, in the State of Illinois, would respectfully represent, and show, that the people of the towns, and villages, and their Surrounding adjacent Country herein after named, are destitute of mail facilities, and benefits, and pray Your Hon. body to pass a law establishing a mail route, from the town of York, in Clark County, via Melrose, Martinsville, Salisbury, to Charleston, in Coles County, the distance of forty miles.
This route will connect at each end with other important mail routes, and the population thereon require the benefits of mail facilities to these points, which cannot be supplied in any other manner.
And we your petitioners will ever pray
