we your petitioners of Gortons Grove and vicinity in Rock Island County and State
of Illinois would respectfully represent that they Suffer Great inconvenience and
privations for the want of a Mail Route from Perue in the State of Illinois (Via, Princeton, Winebago York Town, Washington Street, Bennington, Crandalls Ferry, from thence down to Rock
River on the [N?]orth Side to Attica Fairport, Gortons Grove, Pleasant Vally to Rock Island[.]
We would further represented that the above mentioned route is nearly all destitute
of Mail facility and is a well populated country we tharefore Respectfully ask the Establishment of the above mentioned route and your Petitioners
as in Duty bound will ever pray
