To the Honorable the Congress of the united States of America
we the undersigned Citizens of Osage & Callaway Counties1 in the State of Missouri would respectfully represent unto Your Honorable body that we on account of the great distance that we reside from any Post office labor under many disadvantages. The most of us have emigrated from the older States & would be exceeding glad to keep up a correspondence with our friends. Many of us would take the newspapers of the County. But the great distance we reside from the Post offices in our respective Counties prevent us.
We would therefore pray Your honorable body to establish a post road or route leading from Fulton in Callaway County to Linn in Osage County crossing the Missouri River near Youngs landing. The nearest Office to the west of us is not less than 15 miles. We would also pray that the Post Office department be required to cause a mail to be carried on said route immediately & also to establish a Post office in Callaway County on said route and if practicable one in Osage both near the River (Missouri) the One in Callaway to be at Nathan Youngs on said River and as in duty bound &c
