To the Congress of the United States:
We, your petitioners residing in and near the North west part of the town of Alden in the County of Erie and State of New York, respectfully represent,
That we, in common with a large number of others, residing in the same vicinity are much incommoded by reason of our great distance from any of the Post-Offices of said County; that we are about five miles from the Clarence Post Office, about six miles from the Post Office at Newstead, about ten miles from the Post-Office at Lancaster and six miles from the Alden Post-Office, and being near the corners of the four towns above named, that there are about fifty families resident within one mile and a half of said corners and the population fast, increasing; that we feel, that a Post-Office and mail route should be allowed us in case the mail route from our place to Alden on the Rail-Road can be supplied for the net proceeds of the Office to be established for our benefit which we believe can be readily done; We, your petitioners therefore pray that Congress will pass a law establishing a mail route from Alden Post Office to some suitable place in the North West part of the town of Alden near the residence of Moses Case ^by the name of Millgrove^ and authorize, the Post Master General to contract for carrying the mail thereon provided he can contract for carrying the same thereon each way twice in each week for the Net proceeds of the Post Office to be established in the said North West part of Alden;
And Your petitioners will ever pray &c.
