To the Hon the Congress of the USA in session assembled at the capitol
We the undersigned citizens of the county of Highland ^state of Ills^ Would represent to your Hon Body that we labour under much inconveniance from the distance that we reside from any post office and Further that by establishing a Mail Rout from Mt Sterling in Brown county to the Town of New Liberty in Highland county weekly each way With a P O at or near the center between the two places On the State Road from Mt Sterling to New Liberty that is in Township one south of the base line Range five west of the fourth principal meridian this inconveniance would be removed We therefore would Petition your Hon Body to establish said Mail Rout and P O the P O to be called Highland P O or such other name as may be designated And we would ever pray as in duty bound
