To the Honorable members of the Senate and house of Representatives in Congress assembled,
IOWA CITY Iowa
[?] [13?]
Your petitioners would respectfully represent that being deprived of the advantage
of ^or^ benefit of a Post office without traveling from fifteen to twenty miles. We therefore
respectfully ask your honorable body to take into consideration the propriety of establishing
a mail rout. Beginning at Iowa City and runing from thence to [Wasonvill?] scituated in the North part of Washington, ^County^ in the state of Iowa from thence to Houstains point in the North part of Keokuck
County from thence to Sigourney in said County from thence to Lancaster in the ^said^ county of Mahaska there to intersect the line leading from the last mentioned ^place^ to fairfield in Jefferson County in said State, and we further present that we firmly
believe that a mail rout leading from the aforementioned points would yield a handsome
profit to the post office Department as well as a great accommodation to the petitioners
runing as it would through a fine county well supplyed with Timber and much of the
rout is at this time quite thickly settled and fast improving, and further we respectfully
ask your honorable body to take into consideration the propriety of granting our request
by establishing said rout, and in duty bound we your petitioners will forever pray.
