To the Honorable the Congress of the United States
The Petitition of the undersigned citizens of Lycoming & sullivan Counties, respectfully represent, That they labour under many, disadvantages for want of a Mail Rout from Williamsport the County Seat of Lycoming County, Along the valley of the Loyalsock Creek, to cherry, in Sullivan County. That letters and communication, must now go a round of near one hundred miles, to reach one of the aforesaid points, if sent from the other. That until the erection of suitable buildings by the Commissioners, which may not be for many years, the public offices, and County business will be situated and transacted at Cherry. That the Country along the loyalsock creek, is becoming thickly settled, and the Citizens labour under great inconvenience for want of proper mail facility
We therefore pray your honorable bodies to pass a law establishing a semiweekly1 mail ^rout^ between the points aforesaid and we will pray &c
