To the Postmaster General of the United States ^To the Hon The Senate & House of Reps of U.S.^
We the undersigned Inhabitants of the towns, of Lorraine, Rodman, and Pinkney[,] for some forty years having suffered the inconvenience of living at some distance from a Post Office, say from five to to ten miles from the nearest Office[,] We therefore respectfully petition your honors ^Hon Body^ to grant us a mail rout from Lorraine village ^Jeff Co^ to Copenhagen village in Lewis County a distance of about 18 miles and grant us three post offices on said route one at Jeffersonville ^Worth Vill^ in the second township of Lorraine, one at [Lucus’s?]corners ^Jackson Vill^ in the town of Pinkney, and ^one^ at ^Boyingtons Corners^ Pinkney center in Lewis Co. Said proposed mail route will accommodate at the present time between two and three hundred families, living on said 2d town of Lorraine and on the south side of Rodman and in the town of Pinkney, Lewis County N.Y. A portion of said route is newly settled and the population is increasing more or less yearly, In view of the inconvenience under which we labour by being so far from a post office We humbly pray, your honors ^Hon Body^ to grant us our request Andif so we wish you to appoint Daniel Wilcox postmaster at Jeffersonville, ^Worth Ville^ Jeff Co N.Y.
