To the Honorable the SenateAnd House of RepresentativesIn Congress assembled.
The undersigned citizens of the counties of Brown and Pike, State of Illinois respectfully
represent, That they suffer great inconvenience for want of a Mail Route from Mount
Sterling Brown county to Griggsville, Pike county via Gerish’s Mill and the town of
Perry. The said mail route would greatly advantage an extensive district of country
now destitute of mail facilities and we believe would remunerate the government for
the expense of transporting the mail on the same. The road is a good one and if declared
a mail route will soon be made better. And we will ever pray &c
