We send you by mail a petition for the establishment of a new post Route to pass through
what is called the Flat River country Respectfully desiring your assistance in the
matter and if possible procure its establishmentIt will pass through the most densely settled part of the grand River Valley and will
open a large country to mail facilities which has hitherto been almost entirely destitute
and no part of which is supplied with a mail but once a weekthere are several points along the proposed route where Offices are contemplated two
of which have [5?] forty families and upwards within two milesany exertions you may make in our behalf will be gratefully acknowledged.

Your petitioners inhabitants of the counties of Kent Ionia and Montcalm and State
of Michigan Respectfully pray for the establishment of a post route from Ada in the
county of Kent via Smyrna & Otisco to Greenville in the county of Montcalm. The proposed
route would very much accommodate a large portion of the population of the above named
countiesNot less than 5000 inhabitants would be materialy accommodated thereby many of whom
^now^ are now not within ten miles of any post office for which we respectfully pray
