To the Honerable the postmaster general of the United States
The undersighned inhabitants, of the western part of Saline county, and eastern part
of Lafayette county, in the State of Missouri, Beg leave to represent, that we suffer
vast inconvenience for the want of more convenient mail facilities.
The mail which passes Marshall in Saline and Lexington, in Lafayette travels up the
Missouri River, thereby leaving those neighbourhoods in Saline and Lafayette, some
Twelve miles to the south. The mail which goes from Marshall in Saline to Warrensburgh
in Johnson county, leaves them a like distance to the north; thus a large scope of
country, densly populated are is without those conveniences of which we complain
The undersighned would not think of asking government, to establish a mail rout, which
in their opinion, would not defray the expences of the same; but being satisfied that
an aple, and sufficient amount of revenue would accrue from the establishment of such
rout; present this their petition, in full confidence that it will receive that attention
which your honer, may think it entitled
The undersighned desire that the rout commence at Marshall in Saline, and terminate
at Lexington in Lafayette county. The distance would be some Forty miles, from the
beginning to to the end of same. They would also suggest the establishment of three three offices, one in saline at the house of John G Francisco

the other two in Lafayette one in the Corder Settlement at the house of Abraham Larsh
and the other at the house of Evan Shelby and the undersighned will ever &c &c
