To the Congress of the United States
The Petition of the undersigned citizens and legal voters of Rock Island, Henry, Knox, and Peoria Counties In the State of Illinois praying for a mail route
The undersigned would respectfully represent that a mail rote is much needed from Rock Island on the Mississippi via, Camden Mills, Orion, Andover, Redoak-Grove, Walnut-Grove, Victoria Rochester, Brimfield and Kicapoo Town to Peoria on the Illinois River.
The points mentioned are important ones with heavy settlements and very poor and inadequate mail facilities; We therefore pray that such a route may be established by Law

HonblHonbl T, J, Turner EsqrDr. Sir,
We forward to you a petition from the Inhabitants of the County of Henry for a mail route from Rock Island to Peoria by the way of this place and through the principle places to Rochester Charleston &c.
You will undoubtedly receive communications from Other individuals of this County on the subject Wm Ayres Esqr & the Revd J. Pillsbury told me that they should write you. You probably will receive communications with subscriptions from the others Counties namd in this memorial also.
It is said that there may be objections from the south part of the route on account of a mail stage running from Peoria to Charleston. In that case let us have one from the last namd place or let the stage route be continued through to Rock Island A route through as above namd would do away the necessity of a Petty ^one^ from Cambridge through this place to R. Island, which goes no farther east than this office—The mail matter being brought from Cambridge by the [Perue?] & Millersburgh mail. It would also do away the rout from below; through Victoria, Walnut & Red Oak Groves
P. S. When you have recd the communications of others, or sooner, or sooner, as you may see fit, you would much oblige your petitioners by presenting our their causeYours Most ResplyJesse Woolsey
