To the Honerable the House of Representatives of the Congress of the United States;
Your petitioners Citizens of the County of Perry in the State of Missouri; most Respectfully
represent, That the frequent failures made by mail Contractors on mail Route from Jackson, Via Perryville to [Hercelenium?], is of great inconvenience to the Citizens of Perryville and Perry County generally,
as they are deprived of male felecities for months at a Time during the Winter and frequent failures occur even in the summer,
from the great Rise in the numerous [...?] River’s between Peryville and [Hercelenum?], And at Other times from the Overflow Or Backwater of the Mississipi River, Negligence of Contractors &c; And in Order to Remedy this inconvenience above
Mentioned We Moste Respectfully petition your Honerable Body for a mail Route from Chester in the State of Illinois to Perryville the County
Seat of Perry County in the State of Missouri, [...?] [The?] distance of fifteen miles: Your petitioners further Represent that they Will be
Satisfied with receiving the Mail by said Route once every week, and that It is their
impression that the expence of transporting the mail on the said Route per year will not exceed seventy or seventy
five dollars and will perhaps be Conveyed for a less sum; Your petitioners further
states that there is numerous Citizens Residing in the portion of our County through
which the said Route is Contemplated to pass (To Wit) in Bos Brule Bottom who are at present [deprived?] of all mail fecilities And that If the Route above [prayed?] for is established, And a Poste office is also is located in the said Bos Brule Bottom It will be a source of Revenue to the department Which in the petition
of your petitioners Will go far to defray the expences of the said Route.
