To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in Congress assembled
Your petitioners inhabitants of the County of Jefferson and state of New York respectfully represent that in ^their^ opinions the public convenience and interest would be sub served by the establishment of a Mail route from the port of Cape Vincent to the Port of French Creek on the River St Lawrence
The Mail is now carried once a week from Cape Vincent to Millens Bay a distance of about six Miles; the port of French Creek is about ten Miles further down the River making the whole distance about sixteen miles, and the only Mail communication now existing between the two places is by the way of Watertown a distance of about fifty Miles, and it may often happen that six days and always five, will elapse from the time of sending a letter and receiving an answer by this route: The country is now all settled on this road, and your petitioners pray that your honorable body will establish the route
