To the Congress of the united States.
Your memorialists citizens of the county of Daviess and State of Missouri, would most
respectfully represent, that they labor under great inconvenience for the want of
a Post Office, in the South west corner of said Daviess County. Your memorialists
would further represent that the population, of our neighborhood who, are particularly
interested in the establishment, of a Post Office, is not under one thousand, and
that their nearest post Office is Gallatin the County seat, a distance of twelve miles,
from the about the centre, of our settlement, or neighborhood. In conclusion your memorialists
would ask your honorable, body for the establishment of Post route, from Gallatin
to John Osborn’s in said County, and for a post Office at last mentioned point. Your
memorialists, have, little doubt but that the proceeds of the Office in our neighborhood
will pay for carrying the mail from Gallatin if not the government shall pay nothing,
an And in duty your memorialists will ever pray &c.
