We your memorialists inhabitants of the Town of Pittsburg in the county of Coos &
State of N. H, Humbly Represent that from the centre of our town the distance is
about ten miles to the nearest Post-office, (which, is Stewartstown,) that our present
Population is about 400, that a good stage Road is about to be built through our settle ment to Cana[a]^n^ vermont. we therefore request that a mail Rout may be established from our town to
intersect with the route now established to Canaan Vermont. & as in duty bound will
pray
