To the Hon. Senate and House of Representatives in Congress assembled
Your Petioners citizens of the Counties of Kanawha & Braxton in the state of Virginia respectfully pray for the establishment of a Post Route from Clendennin in the County of Kanawha, by the way of ^the mouth of^ Otter Creek and the Mouth of Birch to Braxton C. H. a distance of about fifty Miles.
Your petitioners respectfully represent that the proposed route will pass through a region of Country which is rapidly filling up with an industrious population who are now entirely without mail facilities the nearest post offices being at the extremities of the proposed route. There is here a large and increasing trade by the way of Elk River between Braxton and Kanawha

Counties, in [boats?], lumber, &c without any direct mail communication
The purposed Route from Clendenin to Braxton C. H. would open such a communication passing through the most thickly settled parts of the Country which trade to Charleston, and would be a great convenience and accommodation to the people of both Counties. Your petitioners therefore pray that such a Route may be established and put under contract as early as practicable
And your petitioners will ever pray &c
