The undersigned Citizens of the Towns of Nottingham & Northwood in the County of Rockingham and State of New Hampshire
That the Town of Exeter is the half Shire Town of said County where the public County records are kept and a Term of the United States Circuit and two terms of U. States District Courts sit annually also a Term of the Superior Court and Court of Common Pleas sit Annually which Causes a large Amount of business of said Towns with the public Offices and Courts sitting at said Exeter and in which Mail facilities is very much wanting as it now takes all of one weeks & some times a fortnight to send a letter by mail to Exeter and get an Answer.
We therefore Respectfully pray your honourable body to take our Case under your wise Consideration and establish for us a daily Mail Route from said Exeter passing through Epping, Nottingham and Northwood to Pittsfield Factories which will Connect a Mail Route, from said Exeter to Meridth Bridge the Shire Town in Belknap County; which will Create a Great amount of Mail matter and add quite a revinue to the General Post Office as well as a Vast accommodation to a population of over ten thousand Inhabitants.
